Professor at Utrecht University

Rashmi Sasidharan is Professor at Utrecht University and Chair of the research group ‘Plant Stress Resilience’ within the Institute of Environmental Biology. She studied Biochemistry and obtained her PhD in Plant Developmental biology from the University of Calgary. Her research program investigates how plants cope with extremes of water: flooding and drought. In particular, her research has investigated flood survival mechanisms in model, wild and cultivated plant species. Within the EU Horizon 2020 project ADAPT, her contributions are to understanding waterlogging resilience in potato – an often understudied, but highly relevant abiotic stress.
