Guus Heselmans, R&D Director at Meijer Potato, studied Plantbreeding in Wageningen and started his career as ornamental breeder at Pothos Plant in 1990. In 1993 he started as potato breeder at C. Meijer BV. With the gradual expansion towards a multidisciplinary R&D team (genetics, bio-informatics, plant physiology, agronomy and datalogistics) Meijer Potato is equipped for a targeted breeding approach. Together with colleague Bianca Doevendans (plant physiologist) he has participated in the EU Horizon 2020 project ADAPT to implement the deliverables into the breeding program, towards better climate-ADAPTive varieties.
